Named after the village on the outskirts of the mountain Falakro in Northern Greece, Volakas River is one of the region’s most well-known dolomite marble at an altitude of 830 meters thanks to the homonymous fossiliferous locality of Volakas.
“Volakas River” is a fine-grained stone accented with stripes of subtle taupe grey and ribbons of pale brownishveins that flow through an alabaster white background. Its classic predominant white setting gives the stone a natural intricacy and an eye – catching versatility.
Undoubtedly, it is a “must-prescribe” for bookmatched residential as well as commercial projects. When unsealed, this natural artistic stone is highly susceptible to staining and etching; the characteristic swirls that run diagonally across the entire slab with cloudy or wavy patterns, grayish calcite lines and round – shaped calcite crystalhave large-scale movement that give a different aspect of decoration when patterns are matched at the seams.
It is widely used for wall facade, countertops, sinks etc.
It can also be polished, honed, brushed or sandblasted.
